VYO started offering Volleyball in 2019 so that girls in the Reading community could start playing volleyball prior to Junior High. VYO did have teams in 2020 due to lack of gym availability due to COVID. We were excited to resume Volleyball in 2021 and continue again in 2022.
Pending gym and equipment availability we may only be able support 4 total teams. Based on numbers, we will attempt to have 1 team per grade or we could end up with multiple teams per grade. Teams that do not have enough players at a lower level will be required to play up to the highest grade level.
Parents – we will need volunteers to coach!! Don’t be shy – you can always find coaching tips online!
Practices and Home Games will be at Haffey Fieldhouse. Practices will be during the week. Games will be on weekends. Away games will be against other communities. The league will attempt to make our schedule against teams that are close to Reading and close to our skill level. The league historically does a good job of this.
We will most likely play at a “Recreational” level – especially at the 3rd / 4th grade. The purpose of VYO offering this league is to provide and affordable option for your daughter to start playing volleyball if it is a sport they think they would like to play as they get older. The league does offer higher levels of competition if we are able to construct teams that are able to compete at higher levels.
Practices should start in mid-late July this year so teams are prepared to start the season in the last week in August.
We will be playing in the CPYVL League. You can go to their website for complete rules and League information. www.cpyvl.com
